Wow. That would not be too terrible on this Late 2013 MBP with the built in SSD, but my Legacy Mac Pro would take some time to do that.

Absolutely excessive, but having supported BETA software I do understand them wanting things clean. Not sure why it would be needed for DNxHR encoding.

At the risk of sounding like an old fart, I will say many support organizations are lazy these days. They want to/have to remote into your machine to troubleshoot and it takes an act of congress to get to someone who is not reading from a script.

As you may realize Resolve 12 is a BETA. So if you are new to grading I would suggest you remove 12 and install 11.

Good to know as the 980Ti is on my list as possible replacements for my Titan.

Man that sucks.

I would pull everything out of it but the vid cards and see if that helps. Everything, including the card to the Cubix. Also reseat the RAM sticks.

If that doesn’t help, try just the GT120.

Is it perhaps overheating? As you may know, Resolve will stress a system like almost nothing else. Lots of math. Make sure the fans are running.

This could also be the power supply. The computer is pulling more juice doing work in Resolve.

Other than the occasional upgrade or downgrade of the CUDA version I have not had issues with it on Mavericks. This laptop has had MC 6.5-8.4 and Resolve 11.0-11.3.1.

I am running the latest MC which is 8.4(resolution independence!) and it runs good on Mavericks. And why does someone need the latest Apple apps? I have Numbers 3.2.2 and it’s companions and they are just fine.

By the way folks, the partitioner in Disk Utility is very good. Backup your drive first, but you can create a new partition for a different OS without loosing any data. Either select the drive or partition to boot in preferences or hold the option key while booting.

I find it very unfortunate that BMD would require Yosemite for V12. I suspect it’s a support thing as El Capitan will be out this fall and they may not want to support many OS. When I was at Microsoft I supported many versions of DOS and Windows and even OS2 but it can be a pain.

I’d remove the ATI card and use one of the 690’s for gui. Also make sure you are using Nvidea’s driver from their website, not the Apple one. There is both a video driver and CUDA driver.
