  • I may get an LHI so I am interested in this.

Have you tried using Prelude to ingest?

upped to lion and upgraded the video card on.

    Cool,

For most projects the 4,1 and later Mac Pro is still fine if you put 24GB RAM and a fast card from macvidcards. Most Mac folks have a SLOW video card compared to the Windows machines and need CUDA thus NVIDIA.

    Thanks for the reply,
    Robert

[Neil Goodman] “i did run it on an old 2.1 macpro with snow leapoard on it and it seemed fine.”

    Hey Neil,

February 7, 2013 at 4:13 pm in reply to: Turn off BlackMagic Audio Out to Computer speakers?

[John Pale] “I think it’s not as simple as adding a toggle switch to the interface. If you allow video monitoring via Blackmagic/AJA card but use the system audio, you will need some sort of mechanism to deal with sync issues that arise.”

The toggle seems to work in FCP7.

To the OP, what I have done is remove the driver not the card.

Did update to 6.5, will reinstall the BMD driver and test.

    Y’all be cool,
    Robert
PS: I agree with the OP, this should be handled by now. I would bet many of us have multiple audio paths available to our Macs. I also am regularly reminding people what year it is. Usually medium to large corporations.

  • [Nitzan Saar] “I work with Media Composer 6.5.2 on mac and every time I try to play the Sequence I get this:
    Exception: ADM_COREAUDIO_UNDERRUN, detected:2147483648
    (I have SO 10.7.5)”

    Hey,

What audio interface are you using? If some form of Avid/Pro Tools interface make sure you have the latest driver(s) installed. Also, make sure you match the sampling rate in the Mac AudioMidi utility to your timeline sample rate.

I was getting this last week but have not gotten it after doing the above and a COLD BOOT. I also updated to 6.5 yesterday and so far have not seen the issue but I have not played a timeline much yet with 6.5 .

A Cold Boot means shutting the system completely down (not just restart), count to 10 and the boot the system. Booting to safe mode is also a good idea to clean caches, then boot normally.

I answered this in another forum, was that you?

    Good Luck,

February 2, 2013 at 9:09 pm in reply to: Sym 6.5 Squeeze Version?

I spoke to a nice man at Videoguys and he verified that Squeeze 8.x ships with Sym 6.5.

So I bought the upgrade of Squeeze to 8.5 and it will not compress my ProRes out of Avid to h.264 and I have opened a ticket with Sorenson. Mentioned to them that I was glad I upgraded to a broken version.

Fortunately my Episode 6.x still works like a charm.

I would update to the latest patch for MC if you are really on 6.0.0. I know Symphony, which the same code base, improved significantly betweeon 6.0 and 6.0.2 .

Strange issue. You talk to Apogee?

    Good Luck,
    Robert

[Job ter Burg] “Avid folks are mostly tired of hearing that when the example given is just incorrect ;-)”

As I said, the quick transition is easy but other stuff is harder than it should be, such as which editing mode to be in. Last night for some reason my timeline decided to not let me insert a title mov at the start or lasso select to remove the intro fade.

    Thanks Job,
    Robert

[Neil Patience] ” You need a fade from colour – however an even easier way is, assuming it is the very first shot, just add a dissolve to the front of the first shot. That will fade from black by default.”

Yep, I think I used to do that in FC Studio. Avid folks probably tired of hearing it but this is easy and other stuff is much easier in FCP (not X) and Premiere.

    Nice website by the way.

Did you upgrade from Sym 6? If so, any issues? ‘Bout to do that in a few days.

    Marked you as resolved it.

    Take it EZ,
    Robert:-)
