Figured out the problem was due to bad AMD graphic card drivers. Installed updates and ran fine. Ran better when I switched the Graphic assist to “off.” Thank-you for all the good advice!

Thanks for the advice. Switching the GPU to off didn’t help.
I don’t know how to set render to “CPU only”

I’ll look at graphic card updates. I think you’re correct that the problem is in the efx, and on a few of the crashes a message flashed saying the AMD card had ceased, and actually crashed the OS requiring a hard shutdown.

Actually the problem started after my upgrade to Vegas 15 from 13. I’ve uninstalled 15 and re-installed it once already.

Thanks for the advice. I don’t see an option for ” cpu only”. Also, I set GPU to “off” in preferences, but it required a re-start, and after restart, it re-set to the GPU. When I set it back, I get the notice that a restart was necessary. I haven’t looked at graphic card updates. No, tried 2 other drives including SSDs. Will now try to re-install software.

Yes, helpful, but I was hoping to import entire folders like from one day’s shooting, and doesn’t seem possible. Looks like best option is to create pre-named folders and import into them. Not a big chore. Thanks for your advice!

That fixed it thanks, still getting used to new icons and layout of V15.

  • I thought so, but the word simultaneously is a bit unusual. I’d expected something like: ‘the license is good for two computers (ie. laptop and desktop). Clarity is becoming a lost art in writing. But thank you for sharing your wisdom!

  • I found out what I was doing wrong. You need to make a copy of the clip on the timeline, then change the type, and it will save as a new clip.

I bought 20 seats of Vegas 14 for my college. We’d been using Vegas since v.9. 14 wouldn’t work at all, and Magix gave us free upgrade to 15. Everything worked fine. I think 14 was a disaster, and you should get a free upgrade.
