Hi, that appears to have fixed the problem. Strange that it hasn’t appeared in any of my other applications. Thank you for the good advice.

Don’t know what else to say.

  • Good idea, but unfortunately way too early in the project to clean out all unused files. I just want to delete the bad files that I know I’ll never use, like shots that are way out of focus, shots of the car dashboard, shots that were accidental record pushes, or shots that were written out of the script to never return. Kind of interesting that Vegas doesn’t have this feature. But in the long run, the work around is to just keep hitting “skip all unfound shots” and hoping that I don’t lose something I really needed.

  • No, unfortunately that doesn’t work. Thanks anyway.

Thank-you. This was an easy install, and it seems to be working perfectly. Why oh why doesn’t Vegas have this auto backup customization feature? I did have a 4 day old backup on a separate drive, so am using that. EXCEPT I’ve lost the last 400 or so edits about 12 hrs of editing, because the puny Vegas autosave is limited to the one that happened ten minutes ago. My project evidently had been corrupted just before the last save, so it was no good. For this reason Vegas’ autosave is pretty worthless, and a bad reflection on Magix. I’ve been using it since 6, and it showed so much promise. IF I trusted Magix to fix things like this I’d gladly do the annual paid upgrade. But this whole thing started when suddenly my project unintentionally went into expanded view mode, and would never leave it. Then the project became unstable. Really disappointed, but the core philosophy of Vegas is by far the best in the industry, its just the little things like poor autosave that drive me CRAZY!!!

Sure, that will work, but it’s totally out of place in a professional application. This issue may be the dumbest Vegas decision ever. Looks like Ed Troxel’s suggestion with Excalibur’s auto-save is an ideal solution, and why it wasn’t built into Vegas attests to software developers’ terrible understanding of the real-world operation of their product. Leaves me dumbfounded. Though I think I remember that earlier versions of Vegas had adjustable auto-backup. I started with version 6. Maybe that’s why I’m shocked it’s gone. Or maybe it was another editing program, Premier?

  • None of these remedies work for me. I’m on Vegas 15
When I try a fix, Vegas locks and crashes.
When I make a new project, there is no problem, so Vegas itself seems good.
    Could my project be corrupt?
The .bak of this project has same problem.
Does Vegas have multiple back-ups, where an earlier .bak version of the project might not have corrupted?

    Thanks!

I suddenly entered this state of AB tracks. Happens regularly, and fix is easy. But in Vegas 15, in my current project, I can’t remove the AB setting. If I press #5 Vegas locks up and crashes. There are no red edges on the clips. In Preferences>Edit> everything is greyed out.

If I start a new project, this is not a problem.

Seems like my project itself has become corrupt. It’s a big project, and not cool, I’ve yet to try the backup. Anyone else with this problem? Really disappointed that Magix can’t change this little thing. Have they fixed it in 16?

April 11, 2019 at 7:32 pm in reply to: Double clicking on media won’t load into trimmer

Thanks, but I noticed that it is working now. The problem was that when I double clicked on a media icon, it inserts it at the first frame of the click, which is usually black, so it looks like nothing is loaded in the trimmer, but when I play it or move the cusor, the image appears. Tricky little details! Will it ever end????
    Thank you again for responding.

Clicking on thumbnail won’t load into trimmer for me. Or it will– randomly.
