No, QT only lets you change the presentation setting (Classic, Production, Clean, etc) not the actual aperture value.
TC is very important, so I guess I’ll have to skip FFmpeg.

QT Pro doesn’t expose the atoms so they can’t be edited there.
Tell me more about FFmpeg. It can edit a QT file?

It is an export straight out of final cut 7. It’s just 10 seconds of bars and tone and a chapter marker track. Really no frills here.

This issue isn’t the display settings. The issue is the mere presence of the clap size 1888×1062, that’s what their transcoder sees.
I found that I can edit this value in dumpster in 2 locations. In this case I edited them to 1920×1080:
The catch is I need to automate this, we can’t do each one of these by hand.

No sorry QTchange didn’t remove the aperture. And QT tools doesn’t modify these either. Still searching…

Actually I found what looks to be an interesting product that appears to do file based QC with ProRes support called Baton by Interra:

Agreed, most of this would be centered on broadcast formats like MPG2 or MXF. But for the company I’m at ProRes is becoming the mezzanine format from which all broadcast formats are generated. So our library of ProRes files is increasing rapidly. I hope the products out there start recognizing this. I’m contacting Tektronix on the cerify product.
I’m thinking half of the problems we might encounter though would be from tape/signal before it even gets into FCP/Kona. I don’t necessarily need a signal legalizer, but can anyone recommend a product out there that monitors video signal and flags video hits, audio pops/clips, etc?

You might want to consider Final Cut Server. Use annotations which are searchable (although I’m having some problems with it lately, likely user error).
