Import your clip back into FCP and use the Video Filter Timeode Generator or Timecode Reader depending on what you want to do. You can reposition and adjust the window however you want. Then you need to export again to QT or ouput to tape.
For your transitions you should just make sure that you aren’t using a key command that is already active. I think Apple-T already does something that my be conflicting with your key choice.
If all else fails make a new setting for your keyboard and start from scratch, sometimes things can get buggy and this is the best way to fix it.

The error could be many things. There are many posts on here that should help you if search for them.
A quick fix might be to log the tape in 5-10 min chunks and try to batch capture the material as opposed to using the “Capture Now” feature and trying to ingest the total 30 minutes. FCP sometimes has issues with capturing this much material and breaking it down usually helps.
At the very least it might help you single out the area FCP is having trouble with.
Possible issues could be :
Timecode break
Dropped Frames
Communication Error
Unstable video

I prefer metal over plastic as it is more bulletproof. Of course you shouldn’t be banging any drives arround too much but metal seems to hold up better.
As far as other things to look at:
Do you want to use the 400 or 800 port? Do you even have an 800 port on your CPU? 800 is faster but less common, however most drives with an 800 port also have a 400 port. (Sometimes even a USB port!)
Speed of FW drive should not be below 7200RPM just in case you ever plan on using it for media.
Personally I have used LaCie drives a lot and they have never falied me. I would check out them or possibly HUGE systems another drive manufacturer I have never had issues with.

Make sure to render at the highest possible setting. If you are using a realtime render (meaning you have a colored bar above the transition) FCP may not be showing the entire effect but dumbs down to what it can play in realtime. This is common in certian situations and a change of render settings usually fixes it.

If your settings for the first sequence are working for you then there is a simple solution.
Duplicate the 1st sequence, delete all the clips inside of it and work inside that sequence. I do this all the time so that I make sure I don’t change any one of the hundred options you might misakenly change when creating a sequence from scratch.
You can do this in the Browser by selecting the first sequence, Control click and choose Duplicate from the pulldown menu that will appear.

Well I wouldn’t worry too much about resolution and codec if you are just trying to do pre-viz work. You should be able to use DV resolutio becasue as far as I can gather you just want to see how the program will run in sync on your computer display.
What I would do is bring all the sequences into FCP in DV resolution. The next step is kinda up to you but here are a few suggestions.
Setup a normal DV timeline and layer all your programs on top of one another so that you have 6 video layers. Now make all the tracks 33% of their original size. Reposition them on the canvas so that you have 6 separate images. Basicallly you will get the Brady Bunch effect. This should let you see the program play the way you want.
Another solution is to create a multiclip with your sequences that will play the same way and in the end may be easier to create. Check the manual as to how to create this multiclip.
My final suggestion follows the same theory as the first but with a slight change. FCP allows you create any size canvas you want for playback. I am assuming that the screens for your production are side by side. You could create a custom sequence that would alllow you to place all your material side by side and view it that way. (You won’t be able to see it on a monitor or anything but you could view it on the CPU). If you were to create this custom sequence and used DV resolution your settings would be 3840×480. This would allow you to have 6 pictures at 640×480 next to each other.
As you can see there are a ton of ways to do this. Once you pick one if you have any more issues post back and I’ll try to help. Codec and resolution however wouldn’t be a huge concern for me if this is only for previz and not for actual broadcast.

You could do this all in FCP without any extra plugins if all you really want are lines. In the Viewer click the tab with the “A” on it. It will become a pulldown menu. Choose Matte>Color and a grey color matte will fill the frame of your Viewer. Cut this color swatch into your timeline over the shots of your golfers (IOW cut it in on V2 while the golfers are on V1).
Don’t worry that you can’t see them through the color just yet.
Double click the color matte in the timeline which loads it back into the viewer. Now Click on the Motion tab at the top of Viewer. Use the crop tool to create a line shape (you may want to also feather the shape slightly so it doesn’t get jagged edges). You should be seeing your line forming in the Canvas. You can click the Color parameter in the Motion tab and choose a relevant color (avoid red as it doesn’t show up so well in video – I’d use yellow or white) You should now begin to see your gofler under the color matte!
Now that you have a line, select the color matte in the timeline so it is highlighted. Time to position it. In the Canvas window you will see a pulldown menu on the top of the window that looks like a broken box. Choose Image and Wireframe. Now you should see a wireframe around your line that you can move, rotate, etc.. to match up with your golfer’s arms.
Once you have done this a few times you will find it very simple to create basic shapes. You could also use other generators such as “Shape” found in the same pulldown menu with the “A” on your Viewer window.
One last tip. You can actually do all this work in the canvas with 2 tools. If you cut the color matte in and turn on the Image and Wireframe mode you can use the Crop tool (C) to make the line, then change your tool to the the Arrow tool (A) to reposition it on the frame.
Next step is keyframing so you could acutally make the line move with the swing but that may be more than you need. Ask if you need some more help.
Hope they start driving 300+.

Look here:
Effects>Video Filters>Video>Timecode Generator or Timecode Reader
Nest your sequence and then apply this filter to the nest. Render and export.
