Making a video with timecode visible?
..as in exporting a quicktime with a visible time stamp?
it seems like it should be simple, but I can’t find the answer.

Look here:
Effects>Video Filters>Video>Timecode Generator or Timecode Reader
Nest your sequence and then apply this filter to the nest. Render and export.
