  • Multiclip Media Management HUH???

    Hi All,
Trying to take a sequence that is comprised of multiclips and media manage the clips down only the clips used in the sequence. The results we are getting are not good. Some clips are remaining too long (as in the original length) others are the wrong angle or a black slug for clips containing only three of four angles. Any idea what is wrong with trying to media manage a sequence with four angle multiclip usage??

We’ve already read the manual thouroughly and searched this and other sites for information on this topic and have come up empty. Distraught FCP user….

    Thanks in advance,

    Gail

Are you collapsing the multiclips before you try to media manage?

Please post the version you are using also. Are you on 5.1 or before.

as mentioned above you need to colloapse the multiclips – CTRL-Click and select “collapse multiclip” (you can select all and then do it for all at once). Remember in Media manager to deselect “include master clips outside selection” if you only want the media for your sequence.

    Good luck.

sorry to leave out the info…

    We’re running OSX 10.4.5 on a dual 2.7 G5 with FCP Version 5.0.2.

We’ve tried both collapsing the sequences multiclips and leaving them un-collapsed to no avail. The settings within media manager are by the book. Yet we continue to see flakey inconsistent results as described earlier. Could it be this version of fcp? If not can anyone suggest a work around for up-rezing a sequence that fcp is unable to (forgive the Avid terminology) “consolidate.”

    Thanks in advance

There are improvements to the Media Manager in 5.1. It has worked good for us so far. It’s worth the $49 to upgrade. 5.04 was still flakey.
