The Dell has HDMI in doesn’t it? and I read somewhere that it even comes with a cable. So you should be able to hook it up directly HDMI from the multibridge to the monitor. Or component analogue.
I’d be interested to hear what you think about the picture quality – I’m considering getting one as a preview monitor.
Perhaps you could check whether you’re using the same version of the decklink driver on all the systems or whether the ones that aren’t displaying slowdowns are a different (older) version?
I posted a question over on the blackmagic forum to see whether there are any updates from blackmagic but haven’t had a reply yet.
Well not exactly. It appears that a lot of blackmagic users (including myself) are experiencing slow down issues on their Final Cut systems. There’s a thread over on the blackmagic forum and they say they’re looking at it. Are you using the latest drivers? One workaround I’ve found (which isn’t great but does make life a little more bearable) is to close down the sequence you’re working on and then reopen it when the machine slows down.
sounds most like you’ve inadvertently turned off your video output from final cut. Check that view>external video>all frames is ticked (cmd-F12), and that view>video playback is set to the blackmagic output which matches your media.
A small correction Stephen. PAL DV is indeed lower field first (which is an idiosyncracy as the PAL standard is upper field first), however all flavours of NTSC are also lower field first.
The advice is sound though – check the field order.
