There’s nothing wrong with the expression as you wrote it. It should be applied to a property with 2 dimensions like position or scale.
Line 0 refers to the first line of the expression. Lines in an expression are counted like an array, so 0 is the index of the first item.

February 11, 2014 at 3:54 pm in reply to: Linear Wipe Effect is basing itself on full layerWhen one imports a layered Photoshop or Illustrator file and Retain Layer Sizes is selected, the layer boundaries in the Comp are the same as they are in the .psd or .ai file.
One can see this in the Comp panel when selecting a layer, the layer handles correspond to the layer width and height.
Linear wipe is then applied based on the layer dimensions and *not* the Composition dimensions.
To see this in action, view the following:

When you imported the Illustrator file as a Composition was Retain Layer Sizes selected?
Otherwise each layer is the same dimensions as the Composition.

You have to be careful when purchasing a drive with Thunderbolt. Some of them are not what they seem at first glance.
Several companies are selling drives with a Thunderbolt connector but a USB controller, not a true Thunderbolt controller. Price is a good indicator which is which, the drives USB 3 controller are considerably less.
A true Thunderbolt drive like those from Promise or LaCie (the big ones) provide excellent performance. They are really TB to SATA and SATA throughput becomes saturated long before TB does.
Now with TB2 and the potential for 20GB speed its very unlikely that you’ll find drives to keep up. Of course you’ll need TB2 on both ends, drive controller and computer.

Hmmm…..
You might try resetting After Effects preferences to the defaults.
Hold down the Shift+Alt+Control keys as your launch After Effects. Shift+Option+Command on the Mac.

One of the biggest changes in Mavericks is how QuickTime is managed. QuickLook only works a few formats, m4v and h.264 among others. Apple has changed the underlying code some QT files now show as 0k but are converted by QuickTime to play.
see:https://www.imore.com/os-x-mavericks-preview-av-kit-simplifies-quicktime-transition
I upgraded to FCPX 10.1 which requires Mavericks, but have only done so on one laptop.
There have been a few hiccups but no show stoppers. I’m delaying upgrading my main production gear until at least one more point release.
