February 25, 2014 at 5:22 pm in reply to: Loss of quality when Scaling down an animation[Peter Hunt] “I tried rendering as a Quicktime movie with the animation codec. Still has the same problem but I’m currently putting it through AME as H.264 to see if it helps.”
If a lossless CODEC like animation produces the same undesired result is there any footage in the source project that is H.264 or uses some other form of lossy compression?
If the animation CODEC fails to produce a good result running that render through AME won’t improve it.

I appreciate your comments RoRK. A lengthy explanation of long GOP, quantization and frame re-ordering seemed unnecessary at the time of writing.

February 24, 2014 at 9:37 pm in reply to: Loss of quality when Scaling down an animationDon’t render to H.264. Render to a low, or no compression format such as Animation or one of the motion JPEG or PNG sequence.
Then transcode the rendered file to H.264 using Adobe Media Encoder.

[Joseph W. Bourke] “You can also set it up so that it will animate between a flat matrix and a globe shape, if I remember correctly.”
Joseph is right, I’d completely forgotten about Plane Space, I own it and had not installed it on my workstation. Thanks JB for the reminder!
First use the Matrix Creator to arrange many layers into a grid and add keyframes for position, scale and orientation(done automatically within the panel) then use the Spheroid Creator arrange the same group of layers into a sphere and use the panel to automatically add keyframes for position, scale, and orientation.
The result is a grid morphing into a sphere.

A simple video wall is easy to build, having it transform into a globe is a bit trickier.

Sounds like you need a quick basic tutorial on Keyframing.

February 14, 2014 at 9:00 pm in reply to: AE Expressions Invalid Numeric Result ProblemThere is *nothing* wrong with the script. It works. I’ve just copied and pasted the script in your first post to both position and scale.
To what and how are you trying to apply the scipt?
