    Hey guys i need help,

I want to keep my transparency grid in my after effects export because i like the look of the grey checkered boxes .. i’ve tried exporting with lossless thinking it would keep the transparency grid in the final output but it didn’t work just gives me a solid black background! lossless + alpha will make my footage completely transparent but thats not what i want.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

You could do a screen grab of the grid and composite this as the background layer.

Yeah that works.. But I want to know if there’s a way to do this in AE without having to do a screen grab of the grid.

    Thank you!

The grid is for reference only, like a guide layer, it doesn’t show up in renders. If you like that as a background, use the Effect Generate > Checkerboard and mimic the grid. In a 1280×720 comp, I set the Width to 8, Color to 178,178,178 and the blending mode to “Normal”
