I too have an 120GB SSD dedicated as the Disk Cache and frequently get the warning that there isn’t enough room on the drive, despite it being nearly empty.
I have 100GB allotted to the cache, and the drive may only have 10GB used when the warning appears.
My solution is to do what Vishesh has recommended, however I am still confused about why this continues to happen on a drive with more that adequate free space.

You should composite the video on the TV as a custom Texture Map rather than as a separate layer in Element.

I’m not aware of any method for Terminal to estimate render times.
The Terminal render method I’m familiar with invokes the After Effects Render Engine but without a front end GUI which is what one sees in AE.
Perhaps some clever scripter could write a hook that polls the Render Engine for an estimated render time.
I’ve found those times wildly inaccurate since AE seems to guess based on the time it takes to render the current frame and assumes that all future frames will take as long.
An alternative is to use Adobe Media Encoder to render, which still allows you to work in AE while AME renders in the background.
Of course YMMV depending on the nature of the render and the hardware specs.

It gets weirder.
Just tried this with the same files on another machine and it works fine.

OK. I *was* able to replicate the problem using a smaller point size (12 pt) though with Myriad.
I suspected this would happen with any font if the size is small enough, however even at 100 pt Myriad would produce the error where other fonts would not.
Perhaps it is font related.

That’s really very odd. I’ve just duplicated the process using both Apple’s Helvetica Neue and Adobe’s Helvetica Neue with no issue whatsoever.
I’m running on a Mac using 10.8.2.
I’ve done a screen recording of the workflow I followed, I do use keyboard shortcuts for some steps such as Create Outlines for the Type in Illustrator, see the following:
