  • Hi Michael, thank you for your response, im currently tapping my feet waiting for the delivery of the drive so i have not been able to test anything yet. Im not stuck to use twixtor, ive used it in the past but that was for a 5D shoot with FCP.

My main question is with the importing in to the AVID to edit on. Normally i would link to AMA and/or transcode and then edit, but usually these all have the same FPS of 25, but im not sure how to start this work flow as in the end i would like to be able to relink back to the original R3D files for resolve.

Ive read that i can transcode everything to DNxHD in your deliverable frame rate, then use timewarp and fluidmotion, but im asking around to look at other people work flows before i get started, the worse thing i want to do is waste a day of transcoding by getting the basics wrong!

Hi John that worked great! Im not very well versed in Resolve and it was more of a test for a larger project, but it handy to know about different set ups for different cameras ect!

    Cheers

Hi, resize works great, it keep the zoom in and keeps any keyframes i add when i rightclick and select use AAF atributes, however it has lost the black bar that i have added so it matches the rest of the anamorphic footage. Im not sure why this is, as its the same effect?

    Any more help?

Hey guys thats great news, i thought it would work that way, but wanted to make sure before i took on the project. That web guide is great and just what i was after. As for the Resolve part, thats someone elses job to grade and export 🙂

  • Yes sorry it is completely contained, but the original 16:9 has turned to 4:3 but all the image is still there.

Yes i did create the file in compressor.

I do normally use that pixel ratio, however they have requested this one. I was wondering if there was aoption in compress to set it to anamorphic.

Yeah, im thinking about. But in the mean time i am considering buying a PCI express port for my PC

    https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ExpressCard-34-54-PCI-E-Express-Card-Adapter-Desktop-/180501590479?pt=UK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL&hash=item2a06bbb1cf#ht_3232wt_908

and then edit on my Mac and colour correct on my PC using the matrox mini deceive. Or maybe do the whole edit on my PC.

I was wondering what are the best programs for colour correcting, i have AVID media composer, but have not used it for grading.

Hi shane. I know that i cannot CC just by using FCP ( i did state that in my opening question). I have been looking at the matrox mxo and think that will be my only option (damn apple for taking away the express slot).

Is there a way to connect my mac via firewire to a deck then to a monitor?

Thanks for your replies… i looked that the prices of the other boxes and they are mighty expensive!

At the moment i do colour correct in FCP, does this mean i will be able to hook it up correctly? and if so how? If i dont have ‘monitoring options’ what does this mean in the long run?

Sorry for the questions, when it comes to this i am pretty much a noobie.
