Wow – The only thing I can think of is to remedy all “check project” errors. I assume your software is up-to-date and all your assets are set to “Don’t Transcode”. As far as memory – I believe that is an issue within the software. I really want Adobe to work harder in their efforts to keep improving Encore.

I have found Encore to eat memory for lunch. My workflow that has drastically reduced crashes has been to do most of the authoring, rebooting occasionaly before real trouble (usually it is slow to respond and screen sometimes goes white momentarily). When finished with authoring, I reboot and transcode files. I reboot then I build. I have quad core and 4Gig RAM on PC and all latest updates. This workflow may or may not help in your specific case … I don’t believe it will hurt. My crashes at build time were always due to it transcoding during the build. Other crashes were related to Nvidia drivers not being up-to-date.

August 5, 2010 at 5:41 pm in reply to: MC 5 — Devising a strong AMA online / offline workflow for feature documentary ~80hrs footage. Related to P2 media, proper codecs, and relinkingBeautifully written/explained and I will be watching closely for responses. My only experience has been the same for the specific issues of exporting QT for approvals from a seq. that contains AMA linked files, usually to QT files, which makes it very starnge that my export reveals those QT, AMA linked files as saying “wrong format” (similar to “offline”) – this is strange because the original file (that is AMA linked) plays in QT and is not a wrong format. My work around has been solved because we must,”transcode” anyway … meaning this crazy world in which I edit mostly, being interlaced SD, 4×3 or 16×9 – we must video mixdown our final, add on top video track, add timewarp and render that as progressive output, then export the file to be played properly in the computers/web world. I really wish Avid would allow one to export (and render as necessary) to a truly progressive/de-interlaced file.
Thanks for this post as it is a growing workflow that will be the future, at least for us!

yes, you can allow selection of specified language on a menu or most remotes allow that selection as well. I would opt for a selectable menu which can force specific audio track to play – a little more user friendly for those users that are technically challenged.

Yes, you can also have a “play all” option to play all the chapters without interruption but is not necessary. Do a search on this forum – lots of info. available on the subject.

Sounds like a progressive/interlace problem.

Thank you – I was afraid it was something like that. Sometimes the job requires a sprinkler not a fire hose …. it wasn’t broke so why did they fix it? Thanks again.

It is probably a codec issue. Could be Apple Pro Res – will it play if QT player?

Have you tried letting Encore transcode and right clicking the asset, try or look at “Interpret Footage As” options?

A playlist is not a timeline. If connected to the internet, hit F1, type in the search box “Playlists” – this will walk you through the process. If you’re staying with Encore long-term, get Jeff’s book, it will be invaluable for you.
