IMHO, although I LOVE Avid, the title tool is weak and to do what you want to do needs to be done in Marquee – it is cumbersome, but like anything, once you do it, learn it and use it frequently enough then it will do the job. I believe it is one of the weakest parts of Avid. For many titles, I do not use Marquee, therefore, I do not learn it. If you are already familiar with AE, then this is the next best option.

You just need the file/folder structures intact – these can be on a hard drive, P2 Card via a card reader, or the P2 card in a camera (in my experience I have done all 3 but I prefer to have content folders copied to a hard drive directly from the P2 card(s). Then within the Avid project you will need to turn off AMA and restart the application, go to “File”, “Import P2 Clips to Bin”, and point to the contents folder – if you don’t have that file structure you can try pointing to the folder containing video/audio folders, or directly to the video folder.

In my experience, AMA has been touch-and-go with P2. I’m sure they’ll work through the bugs. I would simply turn AMA off and import P2 clips to bin (maybe Avid will one day allow you to do both without restarting the app)You are still “linking” as opposed to importing media. I do believe the sync issue is with the AMA function as we have had it even with QT files – AMA still needs work.

More specifically, highlght the menu in your project window/tab, then under the properties tab, uncheck the “Automatically Route Buttons” option. In your Menu window, at the botton there will be several buttons, hover over one until it says “Show Button Routing” – this will toggle on/off the view for the routing of buttons on your menu. Each button has four arrows that relate to the navigation arrows on your remote. Click, hold and drag each left and right arrow for each button (one at a time) into an empty part of the menu. A “0” on that arrow will confirm it will not be functional. Click, hold and drag the “down” arrow on your “Back” button to the center of your “Chapter One” button and release – the number in the down arrow will be the same as the number of your “Chapter One” button. Hope this is more clear.

Turn off (uncheck this) “Automatically Route Buttons”
Turn on the routing pointers on the menu so you can see what you are doing. One at a time, click and hold each arrow for each button and drag (link) it to the button of your choice. Make sure all left and right arrows for each button are not linked to anything (0), this disables them.Ricky

I have no personal experience but have heard Parallel Desktop 5 works well.

I don’t believe that version of Xpress allows linking to P2 clips and certainly has no AMA linking capabilities.
