Thank you all – I found out as stated that the software we have is tied to our registered dongles. File 13 for the boxed sets!

I am out of time but here is a tutorial that shows the effect – go about 2 minutes in to see the part you want.

Don’t import – add the effect to filler in the timeline then access the file within the effect through effect editor. OR, if you do import it and use it in the timeline as a placeholder, add the effect to the import BUT still, through the effect editor, link to or access the original file through the effect itself – I have found it best to switch the view mode to target rather than source when setting keyframes for your move. I wish I was in front of the Avid and I could explain how to access the source file (I forget what the button says or what the icon looks like) but you should be able to poke around and make it work – then you render the effect and you will notice how great it looks!

Actually it is our 11 dongles that are registered with Avid … I’m not sure why the boxed sets (I believe it was back when it was a “production bundle” – install discs) have their own “string of numbers” associated with them.

I don’t think that is what we have … we purchased upgrades from Pre 5.X to MC5.X then we purchased upgrades from 5.X to 6.X – both times we purchased from Videoguys and received box sets with serial numbers which we registered with Avid but we activated the software with our dongles. So actually we have boxed sets for MC5 and MC6 —- if we actually purchased fully licensed Avid Software, then yes, we have many to sell! Maybe the Avid Community forum would know? Unfortunately I am ignorant, uniformed and uneducated about these things.

Hate to break the news to you (and I am not being smart about this) – sorry to say that the resolution isn’t even at 1280×720 HD much less full HD at 1920×1080. Typically to do much movement you will need images in the 2-4K pixel range (like 3000×3000 pixels)

If you are careful, not going in too tight and if you render at higher(est) quality within the effect at the highest resolution for your project, you may improve your results.

I just started using Avid MC 7.0.3 with MAC Laptop, Mavericks, limited use so far but I have not noticed any issues. Based on my experience with 7 I would not go back to 6, so yes, I would upgrade.
