I found it not worth the price (boring music, boring variations, smells of bad sound library music.) The best I could do with this is checkerboard a couple of variations, and add a third layer of loops from Acid. If you are comfortable cutting music up, a much richer source is https://www.freeplaymusic.com/. Although there’s a lot on this site that sounds canned, there’s also a lot that sounds good. Search tools are excellent. And for personal projects, use is free. For commercial projects see their terms, which are very, very reasonable. Note that most cuts come in several different lengths. I have found that when I find a candidate for a project, I download most of the variations and then cut and paste to taste. It’s amazingly easy to stretch a piece (copy sections) and also to condense a piece (cut out sections.) The more you do it, the easier it gets. Listen to the beat and the tune, and look at it too on Vegas. I am not a musician by the way.

Not sure why no one has yet mentioned DeShaker (https://www.guthspot.se/video/deshaker.htm) which works in Virtual Dub.

I see your point. Apparently it does not work that well within Vegas. The only solution I see is to use DeNoiser in Sound Forge. Right click on the track in Vegas, select open a copy in Sound Forge, apply the effect. Then save it back to Vegas as a new file.

You have to save you settings with a new name (or use an old name if you want to replace what you did before.) In the Preset box, type in your new name, then click on the little floppy disk icon to the right. When you reopen Denoise, go to the tab you used before and bring up the name of your setting.
Note that for some reason, Noise Print defaults to Attack time at 540 while the directions clearly recommend you start with this dial set to Zero; ditto for Release Time. You have to manually swivel then down to zero yourself.
Also be sure to try the slider on the right marked “level”.
All very slick except for some minor defects like attack/release dials.

Got it, Don. In the past I’ve struggled to make GoldWave’s noise reducer work. Similar idea. But not nearly as well worked out as Denoise. I found it very difficult in GoldWave to get rid of unwanted background noise without wrecking the speaker’s voice. I have a lot more success with Denoise. “Noise Print” seems the way to go for both versions for maximum effectiveness. Note that the “Help” instructions in Denoise are really clear and important to read.

Don, when I try to use it in Goldwave, it will not run. That is, as soon as I press “play” with the Denoise filter within GoldWave, I get an error: “Cannot start playback. Either the sound driver does not support the current quality settings or sampling rate of the file or an error occurred in the plug-in.”
But it works just fine within Sound Forge.
You don’t seem to have that problem with GoldWave. Any suggestions?

I just tried — and purchased — the Denoiser part of this software. Wish I’d had this long ago. You do need SoundForge or one of the other softwares they recommend. Does not work, alas, with Goldwave.

Alt – tilde (the key to the left of No. 1 on the top of the keyboard.) Toggles away and back-on all the Vegas windows other than the timeline. Great for displaying the timeline to select segments to move/delete. I stumbled on this by mistake, a happy mistake.

Also: Right lick on the picture in the timeline: select “properties”; in the screen that comes up, make sure that “reduce interlace flicker” and “force resample” are selected.

Wow, thanks! The alt/d then 1 works just great. Probably the other does too. I don’t feel quite so stupid for not knowing this. I was sure there was a display setting I just couldn’t find.
