Graham … do you use preset manager, or do you manually drag files using windows explorer.

Tried it again after booting PC .. still the same .. they appear in top right pane of Preset Manager, but when I select and then “add to system” they should appear in bottom right pane … they don’t.
This is following the preset manager instructions ….

However this time I did it with Movie Studio closed …and when I booted it up the presets were there.
Assume there is a bug in it … or maybe just does not work that well with Movie Studio 64bit

    I now have 100+ presets … sure I’ll only use a few.

I got all of these from the 3 links in the you tube post … could be real neat way of getting some smart effects without extra filters.

If you want a copy I’ll upload files – they are very small all 3 packs are under 0.5MB

Another question on this … tried a couple of audio edits … open copy in Soundforge .. when I return to Vegas the timeline shows “Media offline”

Is there something extra I need to do ?

OK .. that looks like it save me a few steps -I was saving importing, and then applying mute to exiting audio

I was looking for a new new audio file on the project timeline, which I see is not the the way it works.

I just tried … and it works … one thing that is unclear pressing ‘t’ does toggle the audio files, how can I tell which is active, there is no ‘name’ unless I go look under properties .. would have thought it would add the name.

If I render assume it will use the currently active only ?

well in the pages I Google’d when asking Q’s such as ‘what video codec to use’

I have no axe to grind about DivX, but on many resource pages there seemed to be common thread that for Streaming Video application DIVX was the choice, with comments such as strong colours, small file size & fast rendering.

As mentioned I do not have it installed …I purchased it before I had Vegas, so not used it for a while, if there really is no benefit to installing it then I won’t

On a related issue – previously I paid for a copy of Divx-Pro
Since PC re-build it is not installed, is there any reason I should not install this codec ?
Will VMS use it OK ?

Divx seems pretty well respected for creating web based footage (YouTube etc)

Not installed it yet – it installs a Div-X codec pack

As an addition … (to move fwd) I used CUDA converter to convert to a DV file …
Again no joy … when I try to drop this format file on time line it tells me I need to install full install of Apple Quick Time ? why is this, I do not want to edit or save in mov format >

DV is an open standard why is VMS asking me to install Quicktime (I don’t want to )
