I have been achieving the same using ‘mute’ ….
For the future, can you look at more than one track ‘in video preview’ at a time ? ….i.e have 2 preview windows open ?

There is no microphone … this is taking an existing recording made by a.n.other.
In parts the audio reduces to commentary only, and in some it is fine comes out over both L&R Channels, usually in Mono sometimes stereo.
However in others it has been recorded on Left Channel only so when you play it back commentary comes form Left speaker only – not desirable.
If I don’t copy ‘something’ onto the Right Channel, when I render it ( 224 Kbps, 48,000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo) it will have audio on Left Ch only.
I know copying across is creating a mono track .. but having mono out of both speakers is better than mono out of Left only
-
Maybe I’m missing something here … if the audio has a portion where speech is only of Left Ch ….
Unless ‘I’ do something the render will simply render as is … i.e. nothing on that Ch.What I am doing (albeit manually)is copying the Left Ch and pouting it on Right …. I know that makes it mono …. but at least vocal is coming out of both speakers and not just the Left.

There are no ‘Green Drives’ using Caviar Black (2 x 1TB) plus an SSD for the OS/App
Delay seems anything form 30 sec to 2 mins
Only happens if I open in SF for edit. -
I don’t have Vegas …. I have Sony Movie Studio 12
and am a beginner so please don’t take my r3esponse the wrong way – it will be my lack or understanding, I appreciate you are trying to help. The only thing that ‘arrives’ in Resmon with Sony name attached is the one I detailed sfvtserver.exe
However on closer look found there is also Moviestudeioplatinum image .. under wait chain for that it states it is Moviestudeioplatinum120.exe
checked responses here – nothing arrives in the wait chain window when the “Media offline” is showing -
> Did you read the instructions I provided:
> Go to Start, Run, and enter resmon
> In the Overview tab, look for the program in the image column.
> Right-click on the program image name and select “Analyze Wait Chain”I did read them … unfortunately that is not what you wrote, (I’m sure you may have meant that)
In your post you wrote: “Start the Resource Monitor, then start Vegas, go to Sound Forge, then exit back to Vegas. Now look at the wait chain for Vegas in the Resource Monitor.”You had left out the bit about right click on program name …Hence my comment “I am unsure what you meant by wait chain ?”
Anyway just carried out the action you meant … the program Sony VST server … under wait chain shows ‘sfvstserver.exe is running normally’ nothing else listed.

Paths …. other than:
Last New Project Template
Sound Editor
Video Capture Ap, which point to install folders on SSD (C:)
All other path statements point correct locations on my E: data driveI used to have Sony Apps installed on separate HDD … but Sony advised they do not support an install other than on C: with OS.
I am unsure what you meant by wait chain ? ….. Sony VST server shows 6 threads, raising to 7 when I open soundforge … sound forge itself takes 31 threads and 3% cpu
When I saved and closed soundforge they returned to previous values -
Just tried that on a ‘clean’ new project … no effect, you can do nothing with the project until it ‘recovers/returns’ from media offline.
-
No all my ‘Vegas’ files are on a high speed 1TB drive.
The app is on a separate SSD.Only an issue when I finish edit in Soundforge and return to Movie Studio.

Thanks guys … never had call to use this, so foxed me.
