Editting Multiple tracks
I have Movie Studio Platinum 12
Hope my descriptive power work ..
I have a restored VCR video (1Hr +) in the timeline no problem. I also have a another video which is sort of a compilation of extracts from main video (aprx 3mins)This compilation was done by dub from tape to tape on VCR and quality is not good …. as I now have a good digital copy of overall video … I would like to extract the same segments to recreate this compilation …
Assume there must be an easy way to do this … thought if I dropped ‘compilation’ in as a video track, I could then look at compilation and find same section in main video .. copy & paste that into a 3rd ‘new’ video track …. there is no audio required with this compilation.The issue I have is how do I toggle the video preview between tracks … it seems to show by default the top level video in the track number order … I have tried using mute’ and then the correct video shows, but this is very cumbersome, as you have to keep mute & unmute each track, is there an easier way of toggling between tracks you want to see in preview window ?
If necessary I have 2nd monitor if that helps with a solution.

You’re looking for the “solo” function — looking at just the track you want.
Look for the button with the ! on it. Click that button on one track and you’ll see just that track in the preview window.
Also, you can change the order of tracks on the timeline. Don’t want a particular track on top? Just grab the track header (the left) and drag it down.

I have been achieving the same using ‘mute’ ….
For the future, can you look at more than one track ‘in video preview’ at a time ? ….i.e have 2 preview windows open ?
