what does ‘still motion’ give over and above just dropping slides on timeline and using standard transition ?

Not knocking this in any way, just keen to understand if it will be of benefit to me.

  • Is your intent to share on-line ….. is so then no matter what you do Youtube will alter quality as it transcodes uploads.
Worth looking at Vimeo .. and in particular the section on encoding:
    https://vimeo.com/help/compression

Vimeo provides HD quality if user chooses to playback in HD ………. with Youtube there are several playaback options but none as good as Vimeo.

Maybe I was unclear … in your screen grab you have at bottom left of video tab the “enable progressive download” :-

I don’t get that option ……….. is there a way to get later/upgrades to the Sony AVC codec ?

So this would be better match than the MainConcept .mp4 templates I had been using.

I don’t get the ‘enable progressive download option’
Also don’t get the ‘Number of slices ‘ and the slider

    this is my view:

    Couple of Q’s ….
When would you ever use the option ‘allow source to adjust frame size’ ?

Why have the audio at 320kb …….. when I rip CD’s 192kb is superb quality ? or does AAA-LC require more bps than an mp3

June 4, 2015 at 7:50 pm in reply to: Dolby AC3 encodes way too low a level

OK found the reason (or cause at least)

When I watch video on PC I use VLC or Splash ……… having rendered the ac3 audio and created a DVD ‘prepare’ project.
I normally play audio & video there to check all sounds OK.
This 80% drop in volume was immediate and very apparent …. could be heard in VLC or Splash.

It I encode with wav or anything else there was no drop in volume ………….
However this it seems is NOT a fault of MSP ….. as when I burned a DVD the audio was back at correct level.

It appears that desktop PC players cannot handle the AC3 file correctly (something to do with lack of handling DialNorm )

So this was a bit of a hunt for a non-problem.

I did see a few posts where there were template settings for AC3 for Pro users.

I don’t have Pro … (I’d like it but it would be 15x the price I paid for MSP – based on Sony web site upgrade price )

As they include the Dolby AC3 encoder ……. you would expect it to work ?

I’d use another format if it can maintain 5.1 and comply with DVD spec

    Mike … I’m confused.

The only reason I set it to 1000 is because that is what you told me I should use as settings in the post of 2 weeks ago

    https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/24/988604

    i.e.

I make a few changes to the default settings by clicking the Settings button (lower left) on the main screen.
    Click 1 Kilobit = 1000 bits.

    why the change?

June 3, 2015 at 4:19 pm in reply to: Render issues – File too big

OK … I found an issue .. when I looked at Render with Media Info it was too long (time wise)

Traced that down to fact I had a spurious marker out at 3.5 Hrs … so was rendering 3.5 nor 1.55

So run it again first off audio is run at Dolby stereo ac3 192 Kb … gives file of 160,165Kb
Entered in Marks Bit Rate Calculator
Selected MainConcept DVD Architect PAL Widescreen
Set to VBR 2 pass and entered the Calculator settings – (no audio stream)
    Settings are as shown:

Rendered and results in Video file size 4,347,808 Kb

    Audio + Video = 4,507,973 Kb

So we are better as no longer 6Gb … but when I try to put this into DVD Architect it again gives me an ‘oversize error File size of 4.8Gb

So back to same issues why does DVD architect claim, this to be oversized ?
No menus or anything else being added.

The whole point of using DVD Calculator was to ensure it would fit with 5% safety margin.

I have tried it with Dolby stereo ac3 and Dolby 5.1 .ac3.

I think I ‘may’ have found the answer … running another Render to check – will report back.
