Thanks for the legwork John, but what I’m referring to isn’t an auto shutter vs manual shutter situation. With the EX3 I can set a manual shutter setting or I can turn off the shutter entirely. The viewfinder information actually says “shutter off”. The NXCam works more along the lines of the PD150/250. If memory serves, those cameras had a shutter on all the time as well.

I have a D30 and an EX3. Both cameras have a shutter off position. The NX does not seem to have this ability.

I just shot and hour of footage with Dolby instead of PCM and the footage is transferring fine.

    Thanks again Bill!

Thanks Bill. I’ll try that on a shoot tomorrow. In the mean time I’m using Log and Capture to bring the footage in using HD-SDI.

Yeah, mine sucks too. It’s my second lens, and I just figured that that’s all I can expect.

These are all good suggestions, but it appears as if the whites issue is a limitation of this monitor. I have mine hosed in HDMI from an MXO2 and settings are all correct. As Dave said, the whites are OK unless they fill most of the screen.

Yes, that’s true, but It’s very subtle and I find the monitor to be so much better that I’m willing to live with that.

That’s what I figured they would say. I guess I’ll have to live with it. I also use a Sony XBR 40″ LCD. It blows the panasonic plasma away. Everything is bright, crisp and accurate.

Unfortunately I use the same monitor and am having the same problem. If whites take up too much of the screen real estate, they look grey. I’m trying to get used to it. If you find out that these particular monitors are defective, please post.

I’ll play with the super white setting. Thanks.
