. . . if you can afford it Sorenson Squeeze is THE BEST for encoding flv, and many other formats as well.
It will beat the hell out of any free convertor and most others.

March 23, 2007 at 1:01 am in reply to: Youtube takes my video and craps all over the quality. Please help!ANSWER: No matter what you do it will look like shit on YouTube.
Why? Because – they are recompressing with a shitty codec and settings built for small filesize, low quality – and if you are sending ANY kind of file already compressed, well – when compressed again by YuoCrap you will get – CRAP no matter what you do.
Period.
Some of us plain just don’t like YouTube. Perhaps I’m biased since I fight contantly to get my stolen material taken down from that copyright infringing piece of crap.
OK I’m done. I’ll do chill now!
*LOL*
(But seriously – their compression sucks so you are playing a losing game)

pffft – I’m telling him NOT to use it – though he is insistent and seems to not get it.
I’ve started making all client sign waivers to assume full responsibility for all content in any commercial I produce – not only for issues like this but in the event they make false claims etc – I don’t want any liability not responsibilty for a client’s stupidity or dishonesty even after my warnings – let ’em pay me to edit something stupid then get sued for copyright issues
*LOL*
I WILL continue to warn and strongly discourage though before resorting to the ol waiver.

Just uninstalled – now let’s see what happens.
This problem has been sporadic for me – but always manages to happen at least once a day requiring me to restart – always after using Vegas anywhere from once to several projects.
So far so good – but I won’t be convinved until I see this problem disappear for several days following ths uninstall.
I’ll report back . . . .

WAIT – you mean media manager only? Uninstall that?
I’ll give it a try – if that is possible to only uninstall media manager.
-
been there – done that – did the uninstall – reinstall gig.
same thing still happens
-
I have media manager disabled in Vegas options. I do not use it.
-
did you try opening the .bak file in Vegas?

This will give you much better results for a soft look, IMO:
duplicate your video track and on the upper one set comp mode to overlay, set opacty to 40%
duplicate your track again, add gaussian blur (light) then set comp mode to screen and set opacity to 60%.
Messing w/opacity values & blur amount will vary the effect.
