If you have a DV camera connect the outputs of your DVD player to the camera and transfer from DVD to miniDV etc on your camera then capture to your computer using Vegas Capture.

    Simple.

I’ve done several music videos and live performances of bands using Vegas as my main editor. I also use After Effects alongside Vegas quite a bit.

Checkout stuff I’ve done at my website – go to the video page – material I produced & edited is listed & credited there at “UMTV Produced”.

For music videos try Lucid, Dog Fashion Disco, HermorRhage and Dogs on Mars for starters!

I had this same problem – after installing V6 anytime I tried to drag/import ANY type of media into After Effects (jpg/avi/mov etc)- AE crashed.

I uninstalled V6 and the problem went away.

AE 6.5, 6 crashed. AE 5.5 worked however ( I still have ’em all installed *LOL*)

I posted this here a week or so ago and got no help – one other person posted that they had the problem also. Those that did respond seemed to think it was a OS problem of some type – who knows.

I installed ms framenet update 1.1, updated direct x to 9.0c, then installed vegas 6.

Next time I tried running AE when I try to drag any media type into a project ae crashes (avi. jpg, mov etc)

I uninstalled vegas 6 and ae quit crashing.

yeah just tried that – didn’t work.

Bottom line: On my PC for some reason when V6 is installed, AE crashed when attempting to import any media (jpg/avi/mov etc).

If I uninstall V6 – AE qorks fine. Wierd.

    ANOTHER WIERD THING!

Since I installed/uninstalled V6 – the Sony plugins that default on the audio tracks are gone – Noise Gate/Compressor/EQ.

    WTF?

I tried reinstalling V4 and V5 – they are still gone. What a royal pain in the ass.

I may ignore this since in the next month or so I plan to wipe my drive and reinstall WinXP – – It has been 2+ years and things are noticably slower time for a fresh install of everything perhaps. That will take me a week w/all the software and plugins I have holy crap. *lol*

    wierd.

I use AE just about every day – after intalling Vegas 6 – AE started crashing . . . afer unintalling Vegas 6 0 the crashes stopped.

Any ideas what it might be?

I did try uninstalling then re-installing 6.5 – didn’t change anything though still crashed until I uninstalled Vegas 6.
