Vegas 6.0a and After Effects 6.5.1 pro
Just did the upgrade from V5/DVDA2 and all hell broke loose. Not only did DVDA3 not allow me to create a “valid” folder to create the dvd files, but vegas 6 is not playing nicely with AE. AE crashes during loading of any project. I’ve narrowed it down to a codec issue after speaking with a tech guy at adobe. The solution was to uninstall vegas 6 until codecs/video drivers settle out.
My rig is a dell 650 workstation with:
dual 2.8 xeons, (4) gigs of ram, (4) 10k raptor drives, quadro fx 500 video card, fairly new nvidia drivers etc..Anyone else having an issue with vegas and AE?

I had this same problem – after installing V6 anytime I tried to drag/import ANY type of media into After Effects (jpg/avi/mov etc)- AE crashed.
I uninstalled V6 and the problem went away.
AE 6.5, 6 crashed. AE 5.5 worked however ( I still have ’em all installed *LOL*)
I posted this here a week or so ago and got no help – one other person posted that they had the problem also. Those that did respond seemed to think it was a OS problem of some type – who knows.

We have not been able to repro this in house despite many attempts. Would it be possible to send me (dr.dropoutATsonypictures.com)the contact info of the Adobe person you were working with? We’d love to get this straightened out no matter whose fault it is.

Thanks for the response. I will forward you the case number and the date of my call to adobe. I really would like to figure this out. My workflow includes intergrating vegas into a mac environment. I edit on FCP HD, and use vegas for all kinds of compositing, audio sweetening, edits, effects, etc.. The upgrades in vegas 6 look nice.
On another note, I would love to be able to transfer edl’s between vegas and FCP. XML/AAF/EDL in vegas doesn’t work in FCP. Anything like automatic duck on the horizon?
