Hey Bob;
I know it’s not $100, but what if one of the PCs had a simple fast RAID attached to it with a 10gigE card. The other PC had a 10GigE card as well. Add the Netgear 10GigE switch and on a separate subnet, connect the 2nd PC to the 1st PC with the RAID. Wouldn’t that sort of work as a simple setup for two people without getting a full blown NAS? A sub $2000 solution with pretty decent performance for two people?
Reason I ask is back in the SD days and even into the early 1080 days we would have internal 4 Drive RAIDS on MacPros getting about 400MB/sec. We connected the Mac’s with a simple Gigabit switch with pretty solid performance. We added an Aggregated switch eventually and I had 5 MacPros sharing files between computers without any central shared storage. It worked great for a decade.
Eventually our bottleneck was more about moving to Premier and having the new camera codecs choke our older Macs, than file transfer bandwidth. We had been using all ProRes codecs up until then.
In these smaller setups wouldn’t that be the most cost effective solution?

Since my model does not show up in the Maleware list of models can I assume I am “safe”? I can’t download it unless I choose a model and mine is not listed. Should I pick any of them and just run it?

Not sure which keyer you are using but sometimes Edge Color Correction can help here.
Also I sometimes pre process my green footage in a sub comp. I use Hue Saturation to boost only the green channel saturation and also sometimes add a denoiser. Then in the main comp I pick that now much more saturated green….this helps define the edges better.
I almost always use Edge Color Correction in Keylight and I can make any slightly green or brighter edge areas match the shirt they are wearing or a background color etc to make a more convincing composite.

Totally agree Shane. I had 6 42″ and one 50″ Panasonic Plasma’s from many years ago and they look great. Only a couple of them started to lose a bit of their brightness. Loved the image, but even more the off axis color.
Even sold a 31″ Samsung 4K because the off axis was so bad. I’m not always sitting exactly perpendicular to the screen!

OK, BOB…what say you? I like the ProMax approach. QNAP has been a pretty good deal for us, but support for video production is non existent. In fact QNAP is more like Apple, developing apps and capabilities that aren’t really what video production houses are actually wanting.
ProMax has been around forever it seems and Nate did a nice job hitting this squarely on the head.
I ask because I will be working for a new company soon and they will be looking at shared storage options and I want to be prepared! Anyone else using current Promax products and love them?

Maybe Element 3D is not what I was thinking….is there another simpler 3D type tool for AE that just does simple extrusions? In most of the Element 3D tutorials he is building an entire city! I just really need to extrude type in AE and track it in a shot.
Thoughts?
