I agree with Andrew. I tested a very similar Tyan board, the S5112G2NR which has onboard ATI Rage graphics.

This was a failure, I suspect due to the limitations of the Rage. I suspect unless a board has an AGP slot or PCIe-16 slot, results will be poor.

The board you mention does have 2 PCIe-1 slots, but I don’t think there are graphics cards made for 1 lane slots.

  • Great question and I look forward to hearing an informed answer, but given that 601 is a more constrained space than 709, wouldn’t it be normal to see a difference in some circumstances?

Likewise we are just using the CF that came with AE6.5, although there is an update available at the Synthetic Aperture site – just make sure to get the version for AE, not the standalone.

It might be worth a post to the Cow Synthetic Aperture Board, as this seems to be their official forum and like this one, gets prompt responses from the developers.

[Uwe Klimmeck] “The versions I tested didn’t do any realtime from FCP at all. After pressing the o.k.-button inside the CF plugin you could see the results. “

    Hi Uwe,

I have have just resolved the same issue, but in After Effects using Color Finesse. We are on Windows, so I have no idea if this will work on Mac.

In order to get realtime updating on the Decklink monitor, the “Extend desktop onto this monitor” setting had to be enabled in Display properties for the Decklink monitor. This is the only app we use that needs this.

The “Video Preview” setting in After Effects needs to be set to “Desktop Only” and under “Settings” in Color Finesse, the Decklink monitor is chosen.

Hope this helps, as I say it’s a bit of a stretch from AE on Windows to FCP on Mac, but it might give you some ideas to try.

    Regards,

    Richard
