The Internet developer is using Silverlight

I have to decide if it is worth going with another developer for the higher quality.

You make excellent points. My frustration is trying to distribute wmv when I know that the flash files are so much better at the same bit rate.

My audience tends to be non-cutting edge- people 55 and older, so they tend to have the slowest dsl lines and find that adequate for their needs.

I hope that the day comes sooner then later that big wide broadband pipes are everywhere.

    Again, Thanks for your response

    That’s an interesting POV.

So you believe that since everyone will have broadband, you see no benefit of being able to deliver better quality video at lower bit rates.

  • Tim,

Thanks for the response. It will be interesting to see when Adobe addresses some of the problems associated with these issues.

  • Steve,

Thanks for your input. Anybody peak at Memory Management in 3.0?

  • Vincent,

    Thanks for your input.

Back to the subject line of my post, I find it interesting that none of the leaders of this forum have chimed in on this.

  • I’m happy (and somewhat jealous)that PP2 is working great for you.

I have a problem that I don’t know is being considered for a fix.

What I am hearing from you is that since Adobe, up to now, didn’t ever think anyone would have that much source material that I’m asking for something that isn’t worthwhile.

As more and more editing workflow centers around common shared storage, It’s obvious that this will become a very common problem.

If the answer is not PP in 2007 then so be it. I will have to find another solution which may be more expensive intially– but in the long run— results in more productivity.

You know that once a more workable solution presents itself, and I switch to another platform; the chances of Adobe winning back my current 5 seats of edit software and my future 20 seats of editing software is highly unlikely as the cost of entry will be too high.

Avid is making a very large bet that Database management will be the center of workgroup editing an beyond with Interplay.

The funny thing is that PP is very workable when the jobs aren’t so big, and with better asset management tools, I probably would be very content.

    Respectfully,

    Richard

  • Actually, I’m reviewing one project that has over 30,000 files including graphics, audio, ,video, and rendered.

I still would like to get an answer to my question.

Anyone have any experience with editshare?

If so, How many users and how much storage?

  • After reading my post, I decided to restate the problem.

After installing 2.0, I’m having the following problem. When I try and playback a clip from the source viewer, I either get audio only….. or video only.

When I playback anything from the edit/ timeline window, everything plays fine.

Anybody have any ideas? Using dual xeon dell with no add in cards for dv 25.
