    Hello,

We want to add another Ppro 2.o set. In the company i work
we want to use the same material on the 2 editsets.

Just sharing a drive won’t be sufficient i guess.

Any ideas here ? Anyone using Pro in a network ?

    Tnx.

    Joep

Editing in a network enviornment can be problematic. Ordinary servers often wont deliver the video in a timely fashion because they are serving everyone and also have other duties including constant polling of computers. Keep media on local discs and disconnect from the network when editing.
Networking software often includes virus scanning app and other distractions that cannot be disabled without admin rights.
Suggest removable system drives, one for networking and the other with just the apps needed for editing.

Editing over gigabit ethernet is just fine. We have delivered 5 stations doing dual stream from 1 server at DV data rates.

The problem is PPro. If you even have a common video clip in 2 different PPro projects, You can only open 1 project at a time, PPro reports that the file is in use and cannot open. This is a big problem. SAN systems can solve this, but are expensive and complicated. Here is a solution that I saw at NAB.
