Well …fine comments by everyone. My main question was “Did Apple do anything to improve what I thought was an obvious weakness in FCP6 – text generators. And I guess the answer is that so many people have developed effective workarounds that few folks think this is a problem. Well at least some of you are living in reality and understand that the text generator as well as the Boris workaround are both restrictive. Thanks for the commentary. Maybe Apple will lend an ear in the next release of FCP7.

Yeah I know but why put it in there if it is virtually unusable? Also the manual seems to indicate that it is a wonderful tool. I’m just dreaming I guess. Thanks Walter for the constant look at NAB for those of us who can’t get free to go this year.

No. But the price is revolutionary. Oh…I worded it that way on purpose to get a rise out of Avid folks. I also have used AVIDS for nearly 15 years now and love them. But I remember when I had to pay $1000-$4000 per year for the priviledge of calling AVID to tell them their machine was broken. And I have never felt appreciated as a customer of AVID. Not so with APPLE.

Yeah but…unless you are using a positive film stock everyone looks like they are in bizzaro world. Oh yeah…that’s what “video world” is now.

Agreed. My accountant threatened to quit if he had to work on Quickbooks one more day. However Peachtree doesn’t run on a MAC so we are moving that part of our operation to the PC world. No biggie. We alrady use PCs for some of our offline photoshop work.

Trash preferences through your finder. Also be sure that your System drive is not handling your data storage requirements. Keep your system drive as empty as possible and everything will work better. But you probably already know all that.

That is great and these look really good too. But I’m just wondering… Why not just do this inside Quickbooks (for MAC) or you can also use Peachtree Software (not for MAC)? Most other accounting programs will allow this as well. I know we are switching from Quickbooks to Peachtree to get a more robust asset tracking capability. Both those programs will allow you to put your logo on the invoice as well as some other artwork.

My thoughts exactly..Can’t we all just get along? I’m voting that we should immediately sit down together, hold hands, and sing Coom bi yah. That and $499 will get you the upgrade.

Yep…You’re whining alright. When my kids do that I just tell them what it was like when we had to walk to school 10 miles in the snow…barefooted. For you I’ll just say that I grew up during the days of linear editing and when we finally got our first AVID it cost $105K and crashed frequently. It also had almost no storage. Those were the days of steam powered computers!
Anyway I’m sure you wish you hadn’t asked for an opinion by now!
