The draw dropping part was the magnetic-get-out-of-the-way thing and the selectable areas where you can then apply effects, to the selectable area, and if you want to make an audition between 3 changes, play them and pick the one you want. All done right there in the not-a-timeline. The way footage is marked up is awesome. Apple is not inventing the l-cut and j-cut but it will very nice to edit (and finish?!*) in the way they showed in the preview.
*Which brings me to the color timing and color sync topics, both draw dropping.

Oh boy. The idea of metadata being the driver of all things FCPX makes me cringe. I see the future: we’ll be buying 3rd party apps for $49.99 that allow us to open a piece of media and reset/change/refresh the metadata.
Someone will post: How come my media will not import into FCPX?
Mr. Biscardi’s excellently detailed and pithy comment will, on the one hand, explain the metadata problem, point them to a reasonably priced app, and finally explain how to configure the camera to record proper metadata.
Mr. Garchow will then explain his workaround and point to another app.
Mr. Ross will explain his workaround and explain that for one camera he uses this app and the other camera the other app.

You need to talk to a lawyer to really know for sure what you can and cannot do.
Generally speaking you only own the copyright to original works. For example, you cannot take a picture of the logo and then claim you own the copyright to the footage. You cannot then make t-shirts or hats, for instance, using your photo of the logo. Make sense?
The news on the other hand is a First Amendment issue because it’s journalism, freedom of the press.
Here is exactly where the nature of your youtube channel will matter. Are you a “news” organization? If so, then what you need is a press pass, from the team.
Are you a freelancer trying to make a profit from the team? Now, you need a license from the league, players union, and team before you can distribute. For example, consider this from the athlete’s point of view. You need to pay him or her a fee for using their likeness.
