November 3, 2016 at 12:02 am in reply to: Banding in the sky only after I render a clipBut that doesn’t answer the question. ? In the old days, like 5 years ago, haha, we could Force a keyframe using markers. I can’t find a way to do that in Premiere. But if you find it, please let me know. Anyway before every dissolve I always placed a marker, 1 frame before the dissolve started.
I always set my keyframe distanct to half the timebase. So if you’re in 24fps, keyframes at 12. If you’re at 30, keyframes at 15 etc. And for me, I personally never use the default because the corresponding size in video file is really not that big given that we’re dealing with video files which are already massive.
Another trick is this: the dissolve drag-and-drop thing uses some kind of blending mode and will interpolate frames if you do not have enough handle, so you can use your own blending mode by overlapping the clips and keyframing the opacity. If that doesn’t work there are a few more techniques using Dynamic Link into After Effects.

WHat’s your keyframe distance?

So let’s ask a different question too: have you been paid for this? or is it a case of a grinder asking for one more thing before they approve the invoice? I ask because a data dvd in 2016 is actually a ridiculous ask — and it’s even more ridiculous when THEY ALREADY HAVE THE FILE and could burn the data disk themselves. Kindly tell them how a DVD won’t work because of the file size limitations.

[Shawn Miller] “Actually, I would like to see what you’re envisioning.”
I guess it’s more akin to an adjustment layer (thinking track mattes) that could “point” (node) to particular clip. X is powerful enough database that the Node could point to Roles, not just stacked clips. Track mattes, green screen keys, etc. might be useful. But I’ll continue to stack them 🙂

Can you adjust levels in that view, the one on the left? Seems like they have space for some more icons to control dB, pan, eq, FX.

[Shawn Miller] “So, what problem would nodes solve? Stack order would still be of the same level of importance – I think layers/tracks are easier to deal with on simple composites.
“Unfortunately, I don’t have a ready-built GUI.
When I think of all the various details in compositing, layers/tracks are a convention. It kind of arises naturally out of “film on top of film” and shining lights through it onto an interpositive.
But also think of additional parameters in the composite that are not actually doing the compositing algorithms — scale, position, rotation, opacity etc.
This means we have some kind of widget interface (usually on the track layer) to set keyframes and move it. Out all those keyframes and parameters. Why not have a widget for stack order? This goes back a bit, but I really liked Apple Color, for example; and also, I prefer the Cinema 4D Xpresso compared to AE’s JavaScript Expression.
