DV has two display modes… if you are opening the QuickTime move in WuickTime player… it displays it using the low mode.

You can call up teh movie properties and check the High box

FCP always uses the High mode

Do not render to DV unless you shot DV

Set your sequence to match the compression of your intended output device

Have you unplugged the drive or moved the project… your media is NOT stored in your project file but on your capture drive

Skounds like your effects are in demo mode… make sure you have them licensed

Check your frame rate settings…. it is likely that your comp is not set up right and Avid is interpolating frames to make things work

Simply add a new camera then play with the lens length etc… I beleive 35mm should be a close match
