I’ve been thrown at a FCP5 job without opportunity to learn. The 80 minute DV25 project will be exported to QuickTime. The .mov will then be converted to DigiBeta. Whatever way the project was shot, it now contains subtitles, color effects and motion effects from FCP5. Now, I don’t care how huge the .mov is out if this can add one ounce to the quality. Does how I render affect the quality of the QuickTime export? For example, if I render as DV PAL, but then make the QuickTime as Uncompressed 10 bit, are the results different from using Uncompressed 10 bit at both stages?

Do not render to DV unless you shot DV

Set your sequence to match the compression of your intended output device
