I work in FCP in SD most of the time (uncompressed using graphics that have been made with the animation codec). I don’t plan on upconverting. I am really looking for a solution that will let me work in SD and HD (pro res) and might be able to playback 2k ( although I have been doing that in ram and film work is a very occasional pat of my work). From what I have read the compressed LHE lets you do most of this.
    Thanks,

    Thanks Jon,
That was a very thoughtful assessment and suggestion of an approach in PA. I think this is a job for a a 3d application but I thought it worth considering. I beleve there is a way to do this in AE using a light as a projector but not sure how that is achieved and not sure if that would work with objects generated in PA. I am surprised that c4d does not do this.

    Thanks again for your help.

I understand the principle of bump maps but was having trouble getting things to work in PA. I will give it another try. I want to get an object to pickup light as it moves which involves the reflective map. Many thanks for the advice.

Actually, I am confused with applying bump maps. What is the proceedure here ? I guess I need to try clicking the sun icon too, as I never have got this to work ( I have been using imported models)….

Thanks for the explanation link. The Old Mic model is gorgeous but not suitable for my project. I will keep it in mind for other projects. In addition to the the Invigomany vol I package ( which I am going to order for training), do you have a database of native PA objects? It might be a good resource to have some kind of database of models which people could access and share with others. I want to incorporate 3d into my compositing work but don’t have the desire to build complex models.

Thanks again for your help. This is a great forum..

    Hi Serge,
It is a shure microphone object. I don’t think I will need to tamper with the textures. I am a newbie to this stuff so exuse the question but what are the UV co-ordinates ?

    Thanks for the help,

Thanks, very much Jon. I expected the intial PA window to have this option and missed it the first time. If I import more objects, I take it that this won’t tax AE too much. Incidentally,I was wondering how PA differs with its integration with AE from a Cinema 4d (which I don’t own, as I chose PA instead ) ?

    Cheers, Richard
