we use two units that work together nicely

    the NewTek Tricaster Studio and

    Datavideo CG-100 Character Generator

but we use this for a news broadcast which sounds like over kill for your needs.

Its would take some time but this is definitely way within the range of AE. The hardest part would be timing things out but really nothing special there.

…note even compressed HD via firewire 800 will still be “iffy” and like Scott said forget uncompressed.

Great then this is what I need.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I will not require any external raids or raid adaptor cards if I am just going to use it for what i described above right?. It should just be the kona 3 and the lowest grade macpro (quad core 2.0) ?!

Ok thank you, I knew there was a simple enough reason for this.

On the export to PC, I must use another codec other than DVCPRO HD because of the whole licensing thing that prevents PC’s from reading mac DVCPRO HD Files. It was explained in more detail in a previous post in here somewhere.

    Thanks again

“There ain’t no 42″ 1900×1200 monitor on the market yet”

    Hi Bob,

Take a look at the LVM-47w1 monitor from Westinghouse. An unlikely brand but they claim the following:

“The Westinghouse LVM-37w3 1080p monitor is a true 1080p monitor. It can accept, process and output any 1080p source input, as opposed to merely creating a 1080p output by upscaling a 720p source.
The Westinghouse LVM-37w3 features a 1920 x 1080 resolution display with more than 2 million pixels. Pictures are sharp, text is crisp.”

It has no receiver or tuner built in and seems to be a dedicated monitor.

    Any Thoughts ??
