If memory serves me correctly, and as it’s an analogue format, it can’t really be described as either. However the luminance is layed in one stripe whereas the colour components are time compressed into a single stripe giving the effect of compression but it is only in the time domain and is stretched back on playback.
But as in almost all tape formats the colour information is sampled (analogue) at half the rate of the luminance ie, 13.5MHz for the luminance and ~6MHz for each of the colour components.

Obvious question I know but have you checked which is the primary and secondary monitor in the Graphics card driver?
I had the same issue here and for some odd reason it had defaulted back to a single window again.

Well at least that’s what we used to call them! Often called Pliers Wiring 81a in the old telecom days. They seem to ba able to pickup anything no matter how awkward or narrow the gap. We often magnitised them to pickup screws just out of reach – taking car not to affect th emonitor tube of course!.

Possible solution found from the Avid Support team:
Create a new Admin User in Windows (assuming you’re using Windows), switch to the new user and try playing back the sequence of your imported AVI media. This error can be related to a corrupt Windows user account.
Hope this solves the problem.

Doh!
It may be worth dropping your nearest and dearest Sony Support centre a line. They may be able to give you details over the phone. I’ve not seen the monitor model over here in the UK and we’re using the BKM-120 boards here. Is it the power connectors that are different/short cables?

A pleasure Michael. I hope you find the info on the power connector. I’ve searched everywhere I can think of but the answer may lie in a manual that someone has for the SDI card.

Check the link in the thread ‘SDI in SONY PVM-1345Q’ below yours. I’ve put a link to the manual in the thread.
The SDI card is the BKM-101C. A search either on e-bay or a google will show several cards for sale. More information is available in the thread.

Getting there, slowly but surely…
Found the Operators Manual. The manual includes your model number as a variant of the PVM-1954Q. Just searching for the Maintenance handbook that will show installation details.Will get there in the end!
