    Hi All,

Odd display problem just happened yesterday to my Newscutter Adrenaline system. When one of the editors turned the system on, the Avid workspace would not extend over into the right monitor. The various Avid windows that would normally be displayed on the right monitor workspace are crunched up against the edge of the left monitor.

You can expand out the Avid workspace manually to the right monitor by clicking the ‘restore’ button on the windows frame and then drag the various Avid stuff over, but it does not stick. This has to be done every time the application is launched. This seems to be an Avid only issue. I cannot get the problem to recreate on other apps on the machine.

Avid tech support and I have tried literally everything to fix the issue but to no avail. Avid support has an identical system that we matched button by button, check box by check box, and still no go. Drivers have been changed out, rolled back, rolled forward. I am thinking it is a checkbox somewhere that we are overlooking, or a control that I am not seeing. Since the COW is great for exchanging info on quirky little things like this, I thought I would submit the problem to the group.

Thank you all in advance for any suggestions or help!

    Hi,

I have encountered this type of issues not with Newscutter but when i was setting up new Xpress Pro’s and that too with assembled pc’s. Ok…now this is to do with the settings in the Display card properties…..as of now i m not so clear..i m not able to recall which option was it..but it was something like this…IN the DISPLAY CARD properties..ie..right click on the desktop clik properties..go to settings..advanced…choose Quadro Properties( if it is quadro or else watever the card is)….xplore the menus..somewhere u will find that it has to xtend the application windows across the second monitor…..it will be done……as far as i know….i will getback with more details as soon as i recall it compltely…for the time being u can play arounf what i said…thankyou

Obvious question I know but have you checked which is the primary and secondary monitor in the Graphics card driver?

I had the same issue here and for some odd reason it had defaulted back to a single window again.

Thanks for the suggestions. The monitors are correctly identified by the driver, so while a fix like that would be an excellent way to end the work week, it ain’t the problem. As for using the extend feature to get the Avid workspace over to the right monitor, looks like that is what I will have to do until I figure this out. Extending the desktop is a good workaround, thanks. Maybe the card itself is problematic. I am going to ask Tech Support to send me another for a test, and I’ll post what results I get. As always I am sincerely appreciative of any help and suggestions. The greatest people in our business are here on the COW, and I’m proud to rub elbows with them.

I upgraded the Newscutter software to version 6.1.6 and the monitor issue is fixed. Possibly there is a bug in 6.1.5? Or maybe just reinstalling the SW took care of the problem.
