    I kept getting this error:

Exception: GetFreeHeap timeout. Possible corrupt heap.

This error occur when I tried to import avi files into the bin. I was able to import avi files but somehow it’s not able to lately. It doesn’t matter how many times I reboot the system. I kept getting this error. I tried the avid forum but there is no help. Could this error related to a bug in the software. I’m using AVid Xpress Pro HD 5.1.5.

GetFreeHeap means the Avid application is trying to get more memory from the operating system. If this fails then you may be running into lack of memory at the point in time it fails.

What are the specs of your system?

Possible solution found from the Avid Support team:

Create a new Admin User in Windows (assuming you’re using Windows), switch to the new user and try playing back the sequence of your imported AVI media. This error can be related to a corrupt Windows user account.

    Hope this solves the problem.

    Richard.

Thank you for the response. I also found this solution in Avid’s knowledge base. However, as I am going through the process of elimination, I found that it seems to be the avi file that is corrupt. I don’t know..I was able to play and work with it before. Anyway, I think the problem is solved now.
