There are many, many different formats of EDL including those from Sony, Avid and Grass Valley.
All log the In and Out timecodes of clips but may also include effect/transition type and duration etc.
The SMPTE is a good source for info on all things TV/Audio/Editing etc.
Conversion between the many EDL formats is possible using software from Alba Editorial Inc.

We’ve raised this with Avid to investigate as it happens far too many times. Bug or not we’re not sure yet. Mainly on NewsCutter Adrenaline and appears to happen when up-sampled manually or when set to auto up-sample on import.
Cheers,
Richard.

To try and identify if the project file or sequence is corrupt; make a backup copy of the sequence and then delete say the last half of the sequence – (don’t save) and try the Send To. If that fails – CTRL + Z to restore the material and then try the same with the first half. If this shows the error, try narrowing the first half into 2 and try again. You should eventually find a version that works although it is time consuming.
The majority of problems we’ve been finding are CD library audio tracks that are upsampled to 48KHz. We regularly get a ‘Track -1 missing’ error, which sometimes doesn’t show up until we either consolidate or Send To… Replacing the errant track brings the project back to life again.

If you are running antivirus software with realtime scanning, try disabling while capturing.

There isn’t one included with Premier but the one used by many Premier users is DV Date available here.

A standard feature in Avid applications and far from rocket science to add useful features like this. I’m sure this has already been requested before.

I had exactly the same problem with the same hardware and Premier Pro. The solution in my case was to disable Norton Antivirus whenever editing. It’s worked without issue ever since. It seemed that disabling realtime scanning made no difference.
-
Sounds like the application is crashing or the user interface is being stopped.
First check to see if Premier is still active by looking at the Application list in Task Manager. If so, see if it will let you switch back to the application by selecting it from the list and clicking Switch To.
If Premier is not running it is most likely a process or driver that is shutting down the main application service.
Has something been recently installed? Updated?
If using antivirus software, try stopping it, re-launching Premier and see if the problem repeats.
For a period I found Norton Antivirus preventing my machine from capturing reliably even though realtime scanning was disabled. As long as Norton isn’t running all works normally.
