Actually DVDSP will burn HD onto a regular dvd. You just wouldn’t have the space on the dvd for regular programs but your piece should fit well. It will only play on a computer though. If you have dvdsp you can easily create an HD version of your dvd. I’m not sure if idvd does this but it might as well. Check your help menu.

Yes, this is ripe for reality programing or at least the evening news! Can you get a buddy to slip a pocket cam between the seats in front to catch her reaction? Maybe another buddy off to the side recording a wide shot from accross the isle and a sound man in the seat behind you. If you can’t sell it at least you could play it at the wedding.
You would have to get the theater’s permission to bring a camera into the theater which is a touchey thing these days and of coarse your girlfriend/fiancais will have the final word on this. Best of luck!

It looks like you will be mixing 4:3 (beta sp) with 16:9 (hdv and hvx footage) as well.

Something I learned from a book somewhere which has worked well with me was to get some graph paper (1/4″ squares) ea square represents 1 foot. Then precisely measure all your furniture and cut out accurate scaled squares out of cardstock to represent everything in your room and lable them. You can now move these pieces of card around on the graph paper to see what set-ups will fit/work the best.
My room is 14X14 and I have most everything in 4 – 7′ racks (if they would only stop making all this new stuff). One thing that helped immensely was eliminating the area behind the racks you need for access to the back of the gear. This area was about 2′ and it was still tight to access equipment back there.
THE SOLUTION: Since there was a regular hallway behind the wall the racks were infront of, I was able to build the back of the racks into this hall wall. The hallway still works as a hallway but the back of the racks are along one side. The racks all have nice mesh doors so it actually looks cool in the hall. The side pannels of the racks have all been removed except the end ones so all the wireing goes through the sides from rack to rack. There is more room to access the back of the gear and I made the editing room 2′ bigger by eliminating the old access space.
This type of renovating is not always possible but what an advantage it has been for me.

Also, why not post it right here on the cow classifieds, lots of us check it regularly. Sounds like the viewfinder, lens, battery mount or battery system may be in tact so you never know what it’s worth to someone. It would help if you knew what you want to get though but you can leave it open to offers. Good luck!

This is true in close ups but how about epic scenes where there is a ton of fine detail over a vast expansive setting? Those fine areas now contain tangible info instead of mush. Nature and wilderness programing truely benifit. Of coarse this has led to other problems in set dec where details in backgrounds become more discernable and distrackting. Sets need to be finished in greater detail and DOF needs to be more accurately adjusted.

Even more apaulling to me was the first wave of digital broadcasting (about the same time camera manufacturers added the flesh detail circuits to their camera offerings), was seeing my favorite newscaster and noticing the line in his hairline where the color dropped off radically. When you realized that nice tanned appearance was makeup and the flat light skin tone into the hairline was real. I think a lot of this was the over use of the flesh detail circuit and there being no time to fix it in post before going to air.
Perhaps there will be a greater move toward CG actors and stars would no longer require face lifts, tummy tucks, breast & lip augumentation, lippo sucktion, cosmetic surgery & tattooing, or steroids, we could just use their voices. Humour aside, the makeup issue needs to be addressed. Makeup provides depth to a character’s face while allowing us to light an entire scene more flatly to conform to the contrast ratio of the film or media. Maybe we will have to shoot the wide shots first and the close ups after with different make up.
