Silicon Color is not recommending nVidia for Final Touch HD on the new Mac Pro. Final Touch HD is much more important to me right now than whatever nVidia cards offer. That’s why we’re going with the ATI on this first machine.

Maybe, it was said as bit of a joke.
Now that Shake is so low priced, I think that is an excellent CC tool and lets face it, a lot of FT is based
on Shake anyway – take a read of the credits in the manual.Also everybody I’ve spoken too said its (FT) very buggy. Had any problems?

on Shake anyway – take a read of the credits in the manual.”Shake’s CC tools do not approach FT. Plain and simple, I checked the feature set in Shake and decided it was not worth it. Just because the same people may have worked on both products doesn’t mean they work the same.

Version 2.6 has addressed all of our issues that we had initially. The next version is going to be even better. Can’t say much more about it than that.
One thing I have heard is that Silicon Color is building a stronger relationship with Apple, ala AJA, so the product will most likely get even tighter integration with Final Cut Pro.
Shake is a great compositing / FX tool. Final Touch is just the best Color Correction tool out there right now. That’s not my opinion, that’s the opinion of a long-time daVinci colorist who trained me. He dropped daVinci for Final Touch. I have to say, I wholeheartedly agree with him.

Realtime HD key & fill :)”Nvidia only qualifies these features for windows or linux systems on their website. At least that is so far as the HDSDI cards, perhaps this box is the bridge for macs. It says ” any certified PCI Express

Probably because the ATI drivers work better. I know on the Quad we were waiting for the new ATI card to come out and now it’s here.

Hmm..any reference for this? My experience is that Nvidia drivers are better for OpenGL and pro apps but I would like to hear what they say.

I’m talking about for Final Touch HD only. Not for any other application. For Final Touch HD it’s the ATI card.
