A computer monitor should be capable of faster counts but as soon as you tie it into a video application in preparation for window dubs you’d lose it.

I’m not up on the bluray volume process (whether it is pressed from a master or blasted with a blue laser flash from the moon or what) but this discussion sounds like standard DVD replicating by pressing from a glass master as opposed to burning on a burner thing. Replicating being pressed from a glass master and burning being made on a dvd burner in a computer.
In the beginning, there was only replicating from DLT to glass masters until pioneer invented the S-101 burner (with scsi connections) and the 3.9 GB DVD-R authoring media. Blank discs were $50.00 ea and the burner was $7-$8000.00. Daikin DVD authoring SW was $170,000.00.
Within 2 short years we had the pioneer A01 drives (about $600.00) and 4.7BG discs (about $20.00) and after Daikin amalgamated with sonic there were a 1/2 dozen authoring apps available for $1500.00 and up.
Today a burner is $39.95, discs are 20¢ and SW is free.
By comparison BluRay seems to be a much slower evolution in going from Hollywood to mainstream given it is somewhat following DVD technology.

Since cost is an issue I thought I’d mention the old aquarium trick. Get a small but deep aquarium and place your HVX200 in it and wedge the lens tight to the glass. You can get great shots in shallow water this way and if you leave it stationary the fish won’t be scared. With P2 you can let it roll, re-writing the cards till some action gets recorded. Even if you can only get 5% of your shots this way you know the picture quality will be superb.

It might be possible to find a digital read out millisecond clock that you could include in the picture frame when filming. Similar to shooting a t/c slate but this would be a millisecond clock like they have a racetracks. SEIKO/EPSON makes most of them.

I just turned these up with a google search. It seems these manufacturers are slow to get above 480 line sd resolution. You should check with Sony, Panasonic JVC and Elmo to see what they have. NAB might be a good place to dig around.
There is no advantage to bringing the HVX200 into the mix if you are only capturing Sd resolution. You need to get above the SD quality level in capture. Some of the links I listed are using MP4 compression which could be compressed HD (didn’t check) so that is probably the best in the market for these lip stick cameras. You might be able to capture direct on your laptop.
These little cameras definitely shouldn’t scare the fish but I hope they don’t look too much like fishing lures!
