Hi, my edit suite shares it’s space with the equipment room, needless to say it is dominated with equipment. Creating a theme in this techie environment was a challenge. When thinking about what to put up on the walls I got the bright idea to hang my test charts up in such a way as they would look like wall art but still blend with all the gear in racks across from them. I had intended to matt and frame them but since they are expensive and still used, I just velcro’d them to the wall. Hopefully I will replace them with Hi Def charts eventually and can properly frame this set. The photo shows the most prominent grouping, others are singularly located elsewhere. Although clients do take notice I don’t recall any specific comments. What does get a lot of comments is the predicta tv on the surface below. This is my clients surface where they can organize their materials they bring along with them.

Could it be Hollywood had the deepest pockets and Åvid was most deeply entrenched financially from the getgo so they will be the last to switch as the roots are so deep.

I still think the FCP student package is a better deal because it is a full package and not something that is less than the full package like the Åvid solution. Media 100 did this with about 6 levels. If you bought in at the bottom and jumped up one level at a time you paid way more in the long run. Even if you bought the student non upgradable FCP by the time you were ready to convert to the pro license you would be likely facing a paid upgrade anyway so buying a full license totals an investment of $2300.00 and you update in the process, still cheaper than the Åvid offering. And lets not forget about Motion, Color, DVDSP etc.
Given their track record do you think if Åvid ever achieved 1,000,000 licenses cornering the market, would they continue this “New Thinking” trend of reasonable pricing or would they start turning the screws?

Someone posted on youtube that his monthly web server hosting bill could be abs high as $1000.00 per month with all those hits and that is probably why he added the $1.00 fee. Even still it is looking pretty good for them.

Out of curiosity which model is it?
With the shift button “OFF” (top left panel if the controller is built on or it will be on the remote for the monitors with no control panels)
F1 (on left panel) should be “OFF” also for level 2 menu to appear.
F2 (on left panel) can also be assigned as a short cut to manual color adjustment so F2 should also be “OFF”“everything is broken” ……Bob Dylan

Wow! never heard of such a thing.
You should have the sync set to “off” when using the BKM-14
It’s a 3 level menu to select from 1:color temp, 2:probe 3: (it lists the last selected) so if you hit enter you should be able to select (scroll) through the 5 different ones.

“I’m sorry, the whole thread is getting off topic because of the discussion of the card capacity.
To clarify a few things:
The HVX200 doesn’t record in the AVC-I codec. I referred to it just because Panasonic now uses it in their capacity charts but it is only available in the higher end more recent cameras at this time. Although the HVX200 records in 81 different formats AVC-I is not one of them. On the 32GB P2 cards available today you can record aprox:32 minutes in DVCPRO HD
80 minutes in DVCPRO HD 720 24p native
64 minutes in DVCPRO 50
128 minutes in DVCPRO[Justin Hawley] “I do a lot of zooms that slowly creep in from a standstill and ramp up smoothly and down smoothly in speed. “
I have barely ever used a DVX100 but I can tell you the HVX200 has a 3 position switch to give you 3 base speeds on the zoom rocker. This allows for very slow creeps. A lot of users still like the Bebob controllers for even more control.

If you need the camera fast there is no time like the present to buy one and let it start earning you money. However if you can wait till April 15th you may see some announcements at nab for new offerings.
