Depending on how bad the problem is, or how picky you are, I’d try pre-processing it using VirtualDub:

    VirtualDub:

Then try using the “SpotRemover” filter (hasn’t been updated in a while, but works really well):

You could also try one of the temporal noise reduction filters, VD has one built in. Or try “Temporal Cleaner”:

Other than that, manual cloning is probably the best bet.

A good 1st-gen Open GL video card will help when using the “Open GL preview” but I find the implementation a bit buggy.

I’m currently working w) a new dual-core AMD machine from BOXX (dual-proc, dual-core) and it’s very fast. But I find I still work with proxies and other time-savers as I did with my older machine, old habits die hard I guess.

AE will benefit most from gross CPU horsepower and RAM. I’d bet that the same holds true for Avid, but I’m a Vegas guy.

Make sure your resolutions and aspect ratio’s match.

Also, make sure your interpreting your alpha channel correctly if your doing an overlay,

    Just a friendly FYI 🙂

PNG 100% is lossless, and depending on the type of vid, can offer a better compression ratio than Animation at 100%, particularly when dealing with logos/titles etc.

I recommend that you render your project at full resolution from AE, then compress separately from your preferred compression suite. I use Cleaner XL, but you could also use Microsoft’s free WMV encoder which works quite well.

As for the LAME issue, you shouldn’t see this in a WMV render, as it it uses it’s own codec; WMA. This must be a “Real” issue, which I’d recommend against using as the player is continuing to loose market share against WMV/QT/FLV.

This is common when using high-res photo scans. Try applying a Gaussian soft-focus to the comp.

add an adjustment layer to your comp, apply the Gaussian blur filter with a strength of 5 – 10. Then set the adjustment layer’s transparency to 10% – 15%

This should eliminate most of the flickering and/or pixel-crawl (dork around with the strength and transparency if it doesn’t)

See if you can export your animation from Swift 3d with an alpha channel, I use the Huffy YUV codec to do this. Or you can use Quicktime, export as PNG 100% quality with alpha.

Import your footage into AE and set the clips transparency to “premultiplied”.

With the alpha channel, you shouldn’t have any problem applying Trapcode’s “Shine” to the animation.

The expression looks solid, are you pick-whipping the tracker’s “attach-point”?
