I attempted to render out some wmv or rm for smaller size web publishment, however my AE6.5 seems refuse to render wmv due to “API failure”, the same happened to real media option, but it happened at the end of the render not the beginning of it like for wmv.

When I try to run cleaner 5 ezy, it crashes when scanning ACM codecs, the MicroSoft error page shows it is a “LameProject” codec problem. hence I downloaded the later codec package “lame-3.96.1” from their website, but how to install this codec became a problem.

the whole package after unzipping doesn’t have anything in their folders for installation/setup, I found an exe file in the ACM folder, which tells to right click and choose install, however, in the middle of installation it has to be cancelled as I can’t find a file “LameACM.acm” needed for the process.

Can anyone help with this? What I know so far is lameACM is an MP3 codec, but can’t I render without it? I am not compressing anything into mp3 format, am I? I am on a WinXP sp2, lately reinstalled system.

If you ever had anything like this or know anything about this kind of codec failure, please give me some suggestion.THANK YOU!

I recommend that you render your project at full resolution from AE, then compress separately from your preferred compression suite. I use Cleaner XL, but you could also use Microsoft’s free WMV encoder which works quite well.

As for the LAME issue, you shouldn’t see this in a WMV render, as it it uses it’s own codec; WMA. This must be a “Real” issue, which I’d recommend against using as the player is continuing to loose market share against WMV/QT/FLV.

Oh? I’ll try that. Thanks a lot.

I suppose I can find MS WMV encoder from their site? My Cleaner fail to start also because of this, which is really…!$$#^%&.
