Good advice on flying with the camera as baggage. I need to fly to DC in April with our camera and I will check it as baggage. I just hate to let it out of my sight.
As it turns out, we decided to drive to Burbank from Phoenix for Varicamp. It took 6 hours to drive it and it would have taken 5 hours to do the flight with the 2 hour pre-flight, picking up a rental car and etc.

Go get em. I might try to see if I can get a street price for you. We will need to rent, at least until next fiscal year.

You did strike me as the persistent type.
The Varispeed is fairly cheap to rent and Film & Video in Denver has one.
I could see it used a lot with Nascar events.

Do you usually have Anton Bauer batteries at the Varicamp?
I really don’t want to pack batteries and a charger, but I am only setup for Anton Bauer on my Varicam and Monitor.

The reason that I plan to bring our Varicam is to give us as much time possible with the menus. There will be two of us attending from the same shop and this way we can even shoot after class with our camera and practice what we learned.

I also would like the Panasonic guys to look at my camera. I am not convinced that our EVF is the best it can be. This way I can compare our lens and View Finder with others at the class.

Scott is correct. We fried out FW card on our 1200A by removing the cable while hot.
It cost us about $1200 and a few weeks to get a replacement.
