Our HDX900 is on the boat too.
I asked this question directly to a Panasonic engineer a month ago.
His reply was that the output could be either HDSDI, SDSDI or composite.
Just to clarify, I asked if this output could then be used with a Standard Definition Steadycam composite monitor and he said yes. -
It is not the (goes-into and goes-out-of) that will make you unhappy with the quality. It is the bandwidth of standard phone lines or POTS. Plain Old Telephone System.
The best mic in the world will have its low end stripped by the bandwidth of the telephone line.Let us know if it worked better than the number of times I have tried to do the same thing.

I remember the AKG 240 being the least sensitive and the Sony MDR 7506 best the most sensitive.”Funny you should mention the AKG and the Sony. I have both and the Sony was a lot hotter than the AKG that I also had with me. I guess that I had both ends of the spectrum and I didn’t even know it.

I just pulled the trigger and purchased the Schoeps cmc641. It should arrive later this week.
Thanks for the guidance.

Most excellent! Thanks Ty.
[Ty Ford] “If you’re working in real interiors, shotguns should be replaced with hypercardioids.”
That sounds like the trick I needed. Any suggested Hypercardioid mic? This would be used on a fishpole for dialog. We, of course, can furnish phantom power.

Tips and tricks and best practices. There has got to be a better way than what we have been doing for the past two decades.I am amazed at what great sound Features and even TV series are getting with their audio. It doesn’t appear to be looped and I do not see where they could be body mic’d.
Example
Steady-cam walking backwards ahead of walking actors. There are three actors wide walking in a hallway in a building with dialog. Actors adding to the three and leaving all the time dialog. Nothing is off mic.
It might be as simple as a better shotgun mic or multiple mics on poles. We are using the Sennheiser 816. It is now appearing to be too long for our needs.

The piece of advice that I once received regarding copywritten material. Copywright means that you do NOT have the “Right to copy”.
That means duplicating it and/or modifiying it.Ray Palmer, Engineer

I believe that I heard that the cost of the 1200A was being lowered due to the 1400 coming out.
Anyone else hear that too?Ray Palmer, Engineer

It is so obvious to me now!
