Jeff, that is great news. We had another documentation yesterday where it would have been terrific to record GPS while recording. We do a lot of documentation prior to construction in case there is every a law suit.
I am going to place an order to purchase the GPS option on Monday and I hope to see our HDX900 within a month or so.

If this is still a difficult question to answer, I would be willing to do a test with a demo camera.
We have also ordered an HDX900 without the optional GPS. Posssibly when our camera arrives, I could borrow the just the GPS option and run some tests.

The obvious question is how often is it updated and how often recorded to tape.
Someone suggested that it was current information but only recorded on the first few frames of record. That would mean that I would need to roll record at each tower but the client needs to see the right-of-way area between each tower in addition to each tower.

Please share your findings with Greg at the Burbank office and Jim McGowan. We had this discussion a few weeks ago when Greg was in Phoenix with Jim at a demo of the HDX900 and they might be also looking for an answer.

If it was a field mixer, can you run this off of batteries as a test? Eleminate the AC power factor all together!
If you have hum while on batteries, and no mics plugged in, you really have a problem with the mixer.

Have you seen the GPS option on the HD900?
I am told it is the same as the GPS on the SD900 camera.
My question, and no one seems to know, is if the GPS information is captured once on record and not updated through out the record.
Example, on a 10 minute rolling record, how often is the GPS info recorded? Once or every second or so?
We do a lot of aerial HD of power poles and I would purchase the option if it updated the coordinates.

Matt has a great point. First rule of trouble shooting…. reduce the number of variables.
I would first remove all inputs and outputs and monitor the mixer on a set of headphones. If the hum is still there, then it is indeed either the mixer or headphones.
If the hum is still there and lifting or adding the AC ground doesn’t fix the hum, I would open the mixer, reseat the boards and look for grounds not attached.
